The Adventures of Obi and Titi is a chapter book series that uses a beautiful blend of fact and fiction to take its readers on an untold journey across ancient Africa.
I first found out about this wonderful Nigerian children's book series from this Youtube video which was shared on facebook. As I watched this trailer I was immediately hooked and wanted to find out more about the authors.

I found out that the creator is called Oyehmi Begho, an ex-teacher and an educational consultant who dismayed by the lack of diverse children's characters decided to create the Obi and Titi series to provide a positive representation of African history and culture, which will help build children’s self-esteem and create an environment of acceptance of different cultures.
The first book, Book 1: The Adventures of Obi and Titi: The Hidden Temple of Ogiso, set's the stage for the book series. The journey begins deep in the heart of Africa, where civilization truly began, two young children, Obi and Titi, unwittingly find a hidden temple and a mysterious map. This discovery sets off a chain of events that will change their lives forever. For once they must settle their differences and work together, as they set off on a magical adventure to save their village and the ones they love.
Each chapter of book 1 is truly amazing and I reached out to Oyehmi to see if he would kindly let you read samples of the book. He kindly agreed and below is a link to chapter one which you can read with your children so that you can experience the world of Obi and Titi.
